A pony delivering the wedding rings, a fiercely competitive crazy golf scoreboard, and a flower girl at the heart of the celebrations—Ash and Carley’s wedding at Winstanley House was full of personal touches.

They married on 7 August 2026, surrounded by around 70–80 of their closest family and friends. With the whole celebration taking place at Winstanley House in Leicester, the day brought together beautiful styling, great food and plenty of time to enjoy being together.

What stood out to me most was how close Ash and Carley are, and how much their daughter was part of everything. Their wedding was a celebration of the family they have built together.

Getting Ready in Melton Mowbray and at Winstanley House

The morning began in two places, with Ash getting ready at home in Melton Mowbray and Carley preparing at Winstanley House.

It was a very hot, sunny August day. From a photography perspective, strong sunshine brings its own challenges: finding flattering light while keeping the photographs natural becomes especially important. My focus was on responding to the conditions while capturing the moments unfolding around me.

A Ceremony with a Pony Ring Bearer

Carley walked down the aisle with her dad, while the couple’s daughter took on flower girl duties, dropping flowers along the aisle.

Then came one of the most distinctive moments of the day: a pony delivering the rings.

With Carley’s love of horses, it was a wonderfully personal addition to the ceremony. Details like this make a wedding feel unmistakably yours, and this one gave Ash and Carley’s ceremony a character all of its own.

The pony stayed for the confetti throw too, becoming part of another lovely chapter of their wedding photographs.

Their Daughter at the Heart of the Day

Some of my favourite moments to photograph were the hugs between Ash, Carley and their daughter.

Her involvement went well beyond walking down the aisle. She joined them for their entrance and was included in their first dance, too. Those moments said so much about them as parents and about the closeness of their little family.

Alongside the bigger events, these affectionate interactions are the photographs that help tell the personal story of a wedding: the familiar hugs, the closeness and the people you instinctively reach for.

Competitive Crazy Golf and Garden Games

The garden games gave guests plenty to get involved in, but the crazy golf brought out a particularly competitive side.

There was a scoreboard, everyone kept track of who was winning, and the competition became a memorable part of the celebrations.

Activities like this are great for natural wedding photography. They give people something to enjoy together, with reactions and interactions happening freely around the game. For Ash and Carley, they also added a playful element to a day centred on their closest people.

A Personal Leicester Wedding

Flowers, thoughtful styling and great food helped bring the celebrations together at Winstanley House. But the details I’ll associate most with Ash and Carley’s wedding are the ones that reflected their lives: Carley’s love of horses, their daughter sharing the important moments, and friends and family keeping a close eye on the golf scores.

Both big Leicester City supporters, Ash and Carley celebrated their wedding in Leicester with the people who mean the most to them.

It was a pleasure to photograph a day with so much affection at its heart, and to capture their daughter as such an important part of the story.
