If you’re dreaming of a countryside wedding that blends elegance with a relaxed atmosphere, Alex and John’s wedding at the beautiful Mickleton Hills Farm in Gloucestershire is all the inspiration you need. Set against rustic stone barns, wildflower meadows, and bathed in soft, natural light, this wedding was a true reflection of effortless luxury — and the kind of heartfelt celebration I love to photograph.
A Personal and Chic Celebration
From the moment guests arrived, it was clear this day was about love, style, and connection. Surrounded by a close-knit group of family and friends, the ceremony was deeply personal, including a moving reading from Alex’s sister that left more than a few misty-eyed.
Alex and John are a seriously stylish couple, and their guests followed suit, with everyone donning their finest designer sunglasses (Ray-Ban and Tom Ford made more than one appearance!). The whole vibe was elegant but easygoing — exactly the kind of wedding that defines modern countryside celebrations.
Soft Florals, Dream Dress & Chic Details
Alex wore a timeless Monique Lhuillier gown with a cowl neckline that moved beautifully in the breeze, paired with Jimmy Choo heels and jewellery from Astrid & Miyu. Her bouquet, designed by the incredibly talented Bloomery, was a dreamy mix of pastel peaches, creams and soft blues, the perfect reflection of summer in the Cotswolds.
Bridesmaids wore elegant gowns from Maids to Measure, while John was every bit the modern groom in his tuxedo from Aristocracy London.
Hair was styled by Viv Woodford, with natural, glowing makeup by Hester Lily Makeup Artistry — both bringing a soft sophistication to the bridal party’s overall look.
Mickleton Hills Farm – A Photographer’s Dream
As a wedding photographer who specialises in capturing natural, emotive moments, Mickleton Hills Farm is one of those venues that makes my job easy. The light pours through the ceremony barn beautifully, and there are little pockets of golden-hour magic everywhere you turn. This is perfect for relaxed couple portraits without ever pulling you too far from your guests.
From rustic stonework and timber beams to gravel pathways and meadow-style gardens, this venue offers both charm and versatility. Whether you’re hosting an outdoor drinks reception or an intimate indoor ceremony, Mickleton Hills is a dream location for couples who want something a little more personal and characterful.

Food, Music and a Party to Remember
The catering was one of the most talked-about parts of the day and for good reason. Heena’s served up delicious, refined cuisine for the wedding breakfast, followed by wood-fired pizzas from Dough & Brew in the evening — a perfect match for the relaxed, guest-focused atmosphere.
Daytime tunes were beautifully played by Ben Choy Pianist, while The Compilation Band turned the evening into a true party with their high-energy live set. For dessert? A treat from Emma’s Kitchen, whose cakes taste just as good as they look.
