An Intimate Autumn Wedding in Bakewell: Jourden & Jordi

Weddings don’t always need grandeur to be unforgettable. Sometimes, the most heartfelt celebrations are the ones that begin quietly, with loved ones close by, in a beautiful town steeped in history. Jourden & Jordi’s autumn wedding in Bakewell was the perfect example of this. Intimate, emotional, and full of tender moments that will stay with them forever.

Morning Preparations at the Rutland Arms Hotel

The day began at the Rutland Arms Hotel, one of Bakewell’s most iconic venues. Jourden prepared in the bridal suite, where her makeup was beautifully finished by Jessica Leigh and her hair styled by Danny Beauty and Hair. Just upstairs, Jordi waited in another suite, a picture of calm as his mum helped with the finishing touches to his tie and jacket.

There was something quietly moving about those two parallel mornings with anticipation filling the air, just a floor apart, yet both waiting for that moment when everything would come together.

The Ceremony at Bakewell Registry Office

The ceremony took place at the Bakewell Registry Office Town Hall, beginning at 9:45am. It was short, sweet, and deeply personal — led by the registrar and filled with emotion. A single reading, beautifully delivered by Jordi’s brother, brought both smiles and tears, setting the tone for the promises that followed.

In those twenty-five minutes, the room felt filled with love and sincerity, a perfect reflection of the couple themselves.

Confetti & Portraits in Bakewell

Stepping outside, the crisp autumn air welcomed us into the streets of Bakewell. Guests showered the newlyweds with confetti, a joyful scene that lit up the historic town. From there, we wandered to the river for group portraits and a handful of quiet moments with just the two of them.

Bakewell, with its charming stone bridges and autumn colours, provided the most beautiful backdrop for couple portraits. These moments — full of laughter, closeness, and love — were among my favourites of the day.

Wedding Breakfast at Rutland Arms

Returning to the Rutland Arms Hotel, the couple and their guests gathered in a private dining room for their wedding breakfast. Jordi shared words of gratitude, speaking with warmth about his parents, Jourden’s parents, brothers, and Nan who was there to celebrate with them.

It was a moment of togetherness, simple, heartfelt, and perfectly in tune with the intimacy of the whole day.

Closing Reflections

By early afternoon, the wedding had come to a close, but not before we captured every important detail: from preparations, to vows, to confetti, to riverside portraits. I left with a Bakewell pudding and tart in hand, and the memory of a wedding that proved you don’t need extravagance to create something extraordinary.

As a Bakewell wedding photographer, it’s days like these that remind me why I love documenting weddings. Every detail, every glance, every laugh becomes part of a story that will last a lifetime.
