Unposed Wedding Photographer Leicester

Wedding Photography with no posing    So what is a wedding photography style which doesn’t pose? Unposed, documentary, storytelling, relaxed, or even simply in the moment. In this blog about wedding photography styles I will talk about what makes the style unique and also may appeal to you as the bride or groom. Being a documentary wedding photographer, the most valuable piece of kit that I have with me on a wedding day are my ears! The ability to have the awareness of what is going on all around me whist still maintaining focus on my current subject is invaluable.Documentary storytelling or ‘candid’ photography requires the awareness for everything that is happening in the room. A simple non stopping, no posing attitude ensures that every smile has a chance of being caught. Breaking down the labels/terms in this post will hopefully help you to decide if an unposed, documentary style is right for you on your wedding day.    MY BEST OF THE BEST DOCUMENTARY WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS TAKEN IN A NON POSED STYLE I have compiled a collection of my favourite images captured in a strong storytelling non posed I have taken over the past few years. My favourite are definitely the black and white collection, which work best for you? HOW DOES A STORYTELLING STYLE DIFFER FROM A FINE ART STYLE? What does a photogrpahers style tell you? What does the storytelling style offer over other methods and approaches? The photographers who work to a relaxed, documentary style love nothing more than to let the day flow and capture real moments of real life rather than structure and stage moments throughout your wedding day. It’s not about perfection, it’s about the realism.  Fine art photographers find the perfect light, and set up the perfect composition with a strong detail to posing and direction. This can be great if that what you love but also may be time consuming on a busy wedding day. Especially in the winter months with shorter days.  The main difference is that with a documentary photographer you are encouraged to forget about them. Allow yourself to get immersed in your wedding day and look forward to seeing the fun and excitement that your guests had around you.  Dance like you’ve never danced before. STORYTELLING IS KEY  So what works for you for your wedding collection? A selection of random pictures from your wedding day or a cohesive time collated collection of what actually happened. The story of who was there, what happened, who kissed who and who had the best dance moves?  Although the sounds very much like the documentary approach telling the story is more than the images. It depicts what is happening at the wedding, what order and where. The preparations, the ceremony, the celebration, the speeches, the food and the party. However, the stories within these stories are what documentary photographers pick up on. The relationships between family members, people meeting of the first time in decades and uncle Bob who has had one too many Sherry’s! This is integral to a documentary wedding photographers style and is far removed from the Fine Art photographers methods and practise.    PHOTOGRAPHING IN A SIGNATURE NON-POSED PORTRAIT STYLE  I use this as my ‘catch phrase’ and stand by this phrase to encompass everything I stand for. Many of my clients do say to me that they hate having their photograph taken but instantly feel relaxed and reassured when I ask them to find more than one image within my site and social channels when the the person/couple are looking into the camera.  This is because as I’m telling that story I manage to blend in with the guest sand capture the honest non-posed portraits which sell my style. It allows you to enjoy your day and have the best wedding ever without having a photographer in your face all day and you can enjoy your time with your guests and family! GREAT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHS DON’T NEED TO BE POSED It’s true that great wedding photographs don’t need to be posed. Some beautiful images are created, built and stylised are undoubtably incredible pieces of art. Photo-journalists photographers are reliant on creating photographs that have a deeper meaning than what you see in the picture.  True emotion, reactions and expressions is what we look for. This is the only way that describes what happened, not what I wanted to happen.  DOCUMENT YOUR WEDDING DAY FOR SPECIAL MEMORIES When I was married many years ago we didn’t have a wedding photographer because we were so uncomfortable having our pictures taken. In hindsight, this was an awful mistake. So this then set me thinking, what about if I could be a photographer who blends in like any other guest. A candid, unposed storyteller for couples who didn’t want to spend the day posing for endless group pictures and could just enjoy the day like I wasn’t there.  So I slightly changed my approach, became more aware of how I could provide these special memories that could be treasured forever. Using natural light rather than flash or external light panels and embracing the light in the room to keep with the atmosphere on the day. In order to change my approach and become more unposed I needed to become more aware of my senses.  Observe more, listen more and photograph with both eyes open. This way I will be able to see things that are already happening in the room and not stop to pose anyone. This doesn’t mean that we don’t pose anything it means if mum asks for a picture with you then we can do this in a nice spot in the room or if you would like group shots then we can accommodate these too. When we talk about couples portraits, all I encourage brides and grooms to do is just spend some time alone together.  Go for a walk, enjoy each others company and let me document your love together.  This is exactly what documenting a day is all about. It was a beautiful moment, and one that I was honored to capture through my Fujifilm lens. The love and joy on their faces were palpable, and it was clear that they were meant to be together.  With a rush of excitement, the ceremony was underway, and it was truly a beautiful and heartfelt affair. The readings were a particular highlight, especially those delivered by the boys, which added a touch of humor and lightness to the occasion. The exchange of wedding rings and vows was a beautiful and emotional moment, and it was clear that Leanne and Mike were deeply in love.  As the newlyweds exited the barn amidst a flurry of confetti, it was clear that this was a day that they would never forget. I was honored to be a part of it all and to capture the special moments that made it such a beautiful and unforgettable occasion.  As a wedding photographer, it is always a privilege to be a part of such a special day, and to capture the love and emotions of the couple and their loved ones. Leanne and Mike’s wedding was no exception, and I am grateful to have been able to create beautiful and emotive images that they will treasure for a lifetime.  Leanne and Mike’s wedding was a perfect example of this. As they exchanged vows in the beautiful Cotswold countryside, they were surrounded by the area’s stunning natural beauty, which provided the perfect backdrop for their romantic and emotive wedding photos. The venue’s charm and warmth perfectly complemented their romantic and intimate wedding. From the moment they walked in, they knew it was the perfect place to celebrate their love and commitment to each other Cripps Barn was the perfect place to create lifelong memories and celebrate the love between two people.  So when I arrived to photograph bridal preparations with Leanne at a luxurious and spacious Airbnb, hired for the family, The day was filled with excitement and anticipation as I captured Leanne getting ready with her bridesmaids, and it was clear that everyone was looking forward to the ceremony ahead. I walked in to find Leanne with her hair very nearly completed in preparation for finishing touches by Abigail Constanza and bridesmaids all making sure they were fulfilling their duties to keep the bride relaxed.  The impeccable wedding dress from Chistlehurst Bridal was selected because Leanne loved the simple, elegant way the material hung with the added detail of the off shoulder sleeves. The green bridesmaid gowns were a perfect festive accompaniment with blooms from Go Wild Flowers which comprised of white roses, eucalyptus and an abundance of greenery.  As Leanne arrived at the venue in a beautiful white car, she was met by Mike, who was overcome with emotion at the sight of his stunning bride. There were tears, tears from

Izzy & Sam // SACRED HEARTS CHURCH, KINGSCOTE BARN // – Izzy & Sam – The wedding of Izzy and Sam started at the brides family home, where she was having her bridal preparations along with her bridesmaids and mum. The house was superbly lit with large patio doors, leading into a nice relaxed garden where the boys started playing football to calm down. As the dresses were hanging in the window upstairs, the make-up was being applied, and the hair being finished, Izzy was becoming ever more excited as the time passed by. Accompanied by an ever so talented videographer (details to be updated) we worked so well together as a team to capture every little detail and a bit of make-up being applied before the dress went on and the big reveal to Dad before making our way to the church. The church was conveniently located a few hundred yards away from the house but also a few hundred yards away from the school where Izzy and Sam met all those years ago as teenagers.  The church and service itself was of catholic origin with huge importance on the religious side of the day, but also a lovely big church, allowing for multiple different angles and the ability to walk around the outside to capture everybody emotionally invested in the ceremony. We even had an amazing choir singing for us throughout the ceremony, and upon exiting the church.  We then made our way to the lovely Kingscote barn in Tetbury, where the bride and groom were received in the vintage car that they had hired for the day, straight into a confetti line, where confetti went absolutely everywhere, followed by canapés, and informal photographs on the lawn, before a handful of requested group shots. At approximately 4:30, the guests made their way in to the barn for their wedding breakfast followed by a very hungry bride and groom, bringing with them as much energy as you could imagine for their welcome into the barn. Speeches followed the wedding breakfast with Andy, Sam, Ed and Jo, making speeches to completely humiliate each other, and also share very fond memories of the bride as a child before the fire pits were lit outside and the room was turned around ready for the evening reception. As the party began on the first dance was done, Izzy and Sam knew that they were going to spend the rest of their life together. Pennard House Wedding Photographer

Pennard House Wedding Photographer Anna & Toby Pennard House Wedding Photographer  SHEPERTON MALLET, SOMERSET This was my first visit EVER to Somerset and never have I been this close to a music royalty stage! Being so close to the incredible Glastonbury stage already had me hyped up about the vibe that Anna & Toby would bring, and I was not wrong.  With bridal preparations beginning mid-morning I had plenty of time to explore the building and the grounds, allowing me to visualise the plans that Anna & Toby had told me about in advance of their Somerset seeing day! The outdoor area set for the ceremony looked incredible in the side lit sunlight coming form over the house.  As I returned back to the preparations for Anna she had began her final touches for make up before reaching for her dress from the wardrobe. Once the dress and touch ups had been put-on and completed I then met with dad at the bottom of the curved stair case to await his excited and emotional response to seeing his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress.  The ceremony itself was a simple, formal event with the bride & groom surrounded by all of the people they love out on the lawn of Pennard House. Within 20 minutes, Anna and Goby were married and making their way back to the main lawn of the house for confetti and canapes. Shortly after a handful of group photographs everyone was invited to the loft of the barn for the incredible wedding breakfast and speeches from Toby, Anna, her dad and the best person.  The evening saw lots of dancing, a wood fired pizza truckling with a sizzling DJ playing all of the best tunes all night long!   To View Anna & Toby’s Gallery Click HERE Suppliers  Venue: Pennard House  Cake: Anna Cake Couture Dress designer: Savin Dress Boutique: Gillian Million Bridesmaid Dresses: Rewritten Shoes: Converse Suits: Reiss Rings: Jacqueline & Edward Hair: Liza Durrant Makeup: Leila Abedrabo Florist: Copper Green Flowers Band/DJ: Andy Tozer Catering: Pennard House We honestly had the BEST day and we’re so excited for the photos.  Hope you had a good drive back and speak soon. Ceremony – Brooksby Hall, Brooksby, Melton Mowbray Reception – Brooksby Hall, Brooksby, Leicester  // BROOKSBY HALL, BROOKSBY, MELTON MOWBRAY // Demi & Max chose the very popular Brooksby hall for their wedding ceremony the height of summer for the stunning grounds and glorious early 1900’s decor of the inside of the building. With bridal and groom preparations taking place in the local pub of the Harbrough this allowed for a short view of groom preparations as well as capturing all off the details for Demi’s excirtement and prep. Surrounded by what seemed like 100 people the bridal preparations were very hectic and there was always something going on and someone to concentrate on. When the bridesmaid had finally decided on how to have their dresses they were then free to help Demi into her dress with the help of her mum. Her mum was so proud and excited to see her in her dress but only as Dad walked in their overshadowed the amount of excitement and joy in the room as he burst with pride.  Upon my arrival at Brooksby Hall I was greeted by a very welcoming front of house team along side a very anxious and flustered set of registrars. Demi was moments behind me but the registrars were beginning to panic that they were not going to be able to complete the ceremony – the first time I had ever had this. Needless to say Demi and Max did complete their vowels and in record time were husband and wife. The ceremony itself included a child handing over the rings which was a nice touch along with Max managing a few tears upon the arrival of Demi. Demi managed to keep her emotions in except for her laughter/smiles and joy whilst saying her vows and contracting her married to Max. After the documentation was signed Demi was most excited to be outside and with her dogs who she had arranged to be in a attendance at the wedding.  The two Spaniels were so excited too be there and really enjoyed all the fuss and attention that they were shown by everyone.  Speeches preceded the wedding breakfast along with two renditions of happy birthday for two lucky guests who also shared a birthday with the wedding day. The three course meal looked amazing ;provided by the excellent staff at Brooksby Hall and the hospitality team were second to none. As the evening began, shots of strawberry tequila were flowing quite freely for Max and Demi, before the first dance and then a father of the bride and bride dance took place.
